This regional production was part of the summer programme of the Music Theatre of Wichita. It was largely based on the contemporary US tour.
Production Details[]
This production is notable for including one of the final Cats performances of Billy Johnstone (who plays Skimbleshanks), and the first Cats performance of Kim Faure (who plays Bombalurina) and of Chaz Wolcott (Mistoffelees).
There is a film of this production, dated 1 July 2007 (the closing night).
Although it resembles the Troika tour, there are a few extra characters and some differences in blocking. Tumblebrutus has been renamed to Bill Bailey; Pouncival and Plato have the same names and designs as in the US tour; but there is an extra male kitten named Carbucketty, and an extra female kitten named Etcetera. Etcetera is listed as the Grizabella understudy, and her design is a pale yellowish tabby, resembling Jellylorum or the original Broadway Etcetera. Carbucketty shows some similarities to London's Admetus but is largely a new design: a yellow unitard with orange/red highlights. Both Etcetera and Carbucketty usually stay in the background like swing characters, but also have some featured moments: for example, in 'Bustopher Jones', it is Carbucketty and Pouncival (not Bill Bailey) who sit at Bustopher's feet.
