The 2nd US Tour opened on 11th January 1985 and ran until 30th November 1986 at the Shubert Theatre, Los Angeles.
Production Details[]
The LA production of Cats opened in January 1985, contemporary with the first US Tour and the Broadway Production. While technically not a tour in this iteration, this sit-down production did go on to become the 4th US Tour and has always officially been referred to as the "Second US Tour".
This production was featured in the TV show "Fame", creating more hype for the "Mega Musical" hit in the mid 1980s.
Theatre[]
The Shubert Theatre was built in 1972, seating over 2100. It was owned by the Shubert Organization, one of the producers of the production. It was demolished in 2002.[1]
