The 2016 UK Tour was based off the London Revival.
General features of the score:[]
- Babygriz is in the opening and Alonzo is the cat who swings on the trapeze.
- The Gumbie trio sing Munkustrap's second verse with him.
- Rumpleteazer is the screaming kitten at the end of "The Rum Tum Tugger".
- Jellylorum and Jemima's lines are cut in the Grizabella reprise.
- Old Deuteronomy remains on stage during Intermission and audience members are allowed to take pictures with him and get an up close look at the set. Before the start of Act II, certain Cats will make the way to the stage though the audience, interacting with them.
- Mistoffelees does not sing in his song.
- Munkustrap does most of the fighting against Macavity, and Demeter comforts Munkustrap after the fight.
- The Mungojerrie and Rumpleteazer song uses the 4/4 variation of the patter section.
Changes towards the end of the 2016 Run:[]
- The ensemble echoed Demeter's alarmed cry of "Macavity?!" (kept in the international run too).
Changes from the 2017 Run:[]
- Street Cat Tugger was reverted to the original Rockstar version
- "Pekes and Pollicles" in Act 1 was replaced by a short "Macavity" preview based on the Broadway revival score, but sung by Demeter and Bombalurina instead of all the queens. The Macavity preview ends with Bombalurina saying "like a snake", and the ensemble echoing her. The cats (except Old Deuteronomy and Munkustrap) then run off the stage, and this leads to the Jellicle Ball sequence.
- "Macavity" preview lyrics:
Demeter:
"He's a fiend in feline shape, a monster of depravity"
Bombalurina:
"He hypnotizes with his eyes, his head sways like a snake, like a snake, Like a snake"
- During the tour stops in China, Jemima sings her verse in "The Moments of Happiness" in Mandarin Chinese. The Chinese lyrics are taken from the China 2012 translation:
月光, 仰望清澈的月光
跟随你我的记忆,去打开去探寻
若你发觉,快乐的含义就在那里
新的生命会降临
Translation
Moonlight, look up at the clear moonlight
Follow your and my memories, open and explore
If you find out, the meaning of happiness is there
New life will come
- "Pekes and Pollicles" replaces "Growltiger's Last Stand" in Act 2, as a performance by Gus, Munkustrap, and the ensemble. After Gus reminisces about playing the Great Rumpus Cat, Old Deuteronomy tells him that he could do it again, and so the cats help Gus relive his glory days. The reprise of "Gus, the Theatre Cat" that followed "Growltiger's Last Stand", as the audience were brought out of the flashback and back into the present, is cut, as this version of "Pekes and Pollicles" is not a flashback scene; it's when Gus gets to play the Great Rumpus Cat one last time.
Gus:
"And I once played the Rumpus Cat..."
Old Deuteronomy:
"...could do it again!"
Gus:
"Could do it again?"
Ensemble:
"Could do it again!"
Gus:
"... I could do it again!"
- The "heathen Chinese" line in the Pekes and the Pollicles was replaced with "foreign Chinese"
- There is no reprise of "Gus: The Theatre Cat" at the end of Gus' performance. Instead, he receives a bouquet of flowers from Jellylorum, bows and soaks in the audience applause, and is then guided offstage.
- Grizabella ascends to the Heaviside Layer via a flying harness.
Changes from the 2022 Run:[]
- The "heathen Chinese" line in the Pekes and the Pollicles was replaced with "mystic Chinese".
