Biography (1987)[]
Sharon Benson was born in the East End of Jamaican parentage and trained at the London School of Singing from the age of eleven until she was sixteen when she studied drama and dance at the London Studio Centre. Her first break came with her appearance in Mother Goose at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane with a cast that included John Gielgud and Elton John. In 1985 she played Crystal in the much acclaimed production of Little Shop of Horrors and this led to her also appearing as Joyce Heth in the award winning musical Barnum with Michael Crawford and appeared in the television production shown at Christmas 1986.
Sharon's 'other career' is as a recording artiste and song writer, she has been a firm favourite with two recent singles and is currently recording another and completing an L.P. which will be released next year.
