Biography (2009)[]
Hailing from Wellington, Matt's first professional tour was Harry Miller's Jesus Christ Superstar which covered NZ and OZ, thereafter he joined the Ascot Group's tour of Cats, again through NZ and OZ. At the end of that tour he was invited to perform Munkustrap for the 10 year anniversary cast of Cats in Hamburg. Remaining in Hamburg a further 4 years, he took on various curious gigs, such as the revealing of the VW Beetle in the Highlands of Austria.
In 2000, he spent winter in Queensland with R.U.C's OZ big top tour of Cats as Rum Tum Tugger, then settled back in his home town. Matt's many musical appearances in NZ since, include crooning in Fly Me To The Moon @ Downstage; bellowing in Jacques Brel Is Alive And Well @ Circa; getting crucified again and again in Jesus Christ Superstar with both W.M.T. and Showbiz in CHCH; and gyrating and wailing with the bombastic Zeppelin tribute: Whole Lotta Led.
Most recently Matt relished playing the Engineer in Showbiz' NZ premiere of Miss Saigon and is delighted to have dovetailed into Starlight Express which has certainly fulfilled his fondness for rolling about on wheels.
