Biography (2015)[]

Marise began her dance career at the age of 5 and is trained in ballet, contemporary, jazz, partner work, African and belly dance. She was a member of Ballet Theatre Afrikan for 3 years and a graduate member of the South African Ballet Theatre in 2005 during which time she performed in Swan Lake, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty and many other classical ballets and neo-classical works. She also performed in some of South Africa’s top arts festivals including the KKNK and the Grahamstown National Arts Festival.

In 2006 Marise began her life as a freelance artist. She danced in numerous corporate productions and live awards shows and shared a stage with the likes of Freshly Ground, The Parlourtones, Gang of Instrumentals and more. She also completed her Pilates Instructors course and has taught classes ever since.

In 2008 Marise took part in the reality TV dance show So you think you can dance in which she reached the finals. In 2009 she made her musical theatre debut in High School Musical which toured to Shanghai. Thereafter she performed the role of Victoria (White Cat) in Cats.

In 2010 Marise moved to London where she performed in various commercial productions and taught contemporary dance at the prestigious Danceworks studio. She also taught children’s dance workshops in and around London.

In 2012 she was featured in Pretville the movie musical then returned to the stage as a ballet dancer in Phantom of the Opera, which toured to Manila, Seoul, Bangkok and Singapore. 2015 starts with a bang as Marise tours to Macau for 3 weeks to perform in Cats once more in the role of the White Cat.
