The first UK Non-Replica Performance, Kilworth House Theatre set their production of CATS in a bombed-out London Underground Station during the Second World War.
Production Details[]
This production makes a great departure from the norm in terms of designs, as all characters are portrayed fully clothed, and far more human than feline in appearance. Characters are based on all walks of life, from evacuating children to glamour girls; spivs to Airmen, Milkmen, and Civil Defence Scouts. Coricopat and Tantomile are portrayed here as children.
The Kilworth House Theatre seem to have gone the way of the 2016 Broadway revival, in that they have replaced Growltiger's Last Stand with The Awefull Battle of the Pekes and the Pollicles, having Gus portray The Rumpus Cat.
Since this production takes place in a train station, with a derailed subway featuring as a prominent set piece, Skimbleshanks: The Railway Cat features instead a manually powered bicycle generator.
