Jennifer Hudson is an American singer, actress, and spokesperson. Her albums have sold millions of copies worldwide, collectively receiving six Grammy nominations and two awards. She plays Grizabella in the 2019 Cats movie.

Career (2019)[]

She appeared on American Idol in 2004 and later released a self-titled album which certified gold in the United States. She portrayed Effie White in the film adaptation of the musical Dreamgirls, alongside Beyonce. Jennifer's performance was praised by critics and she received 29 awards for her role. Her original song featured in the film, 'Love You I Do' won a 2008 Grammy for Best Song Written in a Motion Picture. She subsequently appeared in feature films Sex and the City, The Secret Life of Bees, and Sandy Wexler. Jennifer made her Broadway debut in The Color Purple, the show receiving a Tony for Best Revival of a Musical in 2016 and a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. She portrayed Motormouth Maybelle in NBC's critically acclaimed special Hairspray Live! Jennifer was cast in Cats in July 2018.

Personal Life[]

Jennifer's mother and brother were killed in a shooting in 2008. She subsequently helped create the Hudson-King Foundation for Families of Slain Victims, and later performed with the DC Choir at the March for Our Lives rally in 2018.

She has one son with ex-boyfriend and professional wrestler David Otunga.
