Sarah Brightman originated the role of Jemima in the original London production of Cats in 1981.

Cats was Sarah's West End debut. She went on to star in several other West End and Broadway musicals, including The Phantom of the Opera, where she originated the role of Christine Daaé. She is also a successful classical crossover artist, with worldwide sales of more than 35 million albums and two million DVDs. She was married to Andrew Lloyd Webber from 1984 to 1990.

Biography (1981)[]

Sarah Brightman made her West End debut in the musical I and Albert as Princess Victoria. She has trained in all types of dance technique and in 1976 joined “Pans’s People” and appeared on Top Of The Pops each week and various other television and cabaret shows. More recently she has been a member of the group “Hot Gossip” appearing on The Kenny Everett Video Show. Her record “I Lost My Heart To A Starship Trooper” reached No 6 in the charts and she also now writes and produces records.
